I’ve had a pretty great weekend. Ready for some bullets?

  • Friday night I decided that we should have a date night. So we went to see Iron Man. And as someone who doesn’t like comic books (ahem, graphic novels) and didn’t know anything about the history of Iron Man, it Rocked. With a capitol R. It was highly highly enjoyable. And Gwenyth Paltrow didn’t annoy me. And if you go, you should stay until the end.
  • Because the pair tickets cost me $27 (Dear NYC theaters, do you have a drug problem you need to pay for?!?) we did what we always do to try and get our money’s worth. We snuck into some other theaters. So we watched about an hour of Speed Racer. I don’t think my eyeballs could take any more. It’s amazingly visual, but I think I need to see it on the small screen when I can avert my eyes when needed. But the story, uh yeah, we walked in on the 2nd hour, and could follow perfectly, so the first hour might be a complete waste.
  • Then we saw Baby Mama. And it was not funny. And I was saddened because I was hoping for greatness.
  • We got home Friday night and within a half an hour one of my roommates came home with like 15 people. My apartment cannot handle that many people. And it was late. And he was all, “oh, I thought you were out of town.” And I was like, um, what? And my apartment has been full of people visiting for the weekend ever since. What is wrong with notifying roommates about having people multiple people stay for long times? Am I asking too much?
  • Saturday we had brunch at my favorite place ever. And then walked through the village, trying to waste some time. We enjoyed making comments to each other about people’s outfits while we were sitting in Washington Square Park. And pretending that a red squirrel was an attention seeking photograph whore.
  • Then we went to hear some of the 2nd years read some of their thesises. Thesisi? Some were really good, and it made me less nervous for a year from now when I would have to do the same, because 28 people reading for 5 minutes all tends to blur together and now I can’t even remember who I liked. So yeah, no pressure for next year.
  • And it was the 1 year anniversary for my favorite bartender/bar owner’s bar, Nelson Blue. So we went and had some Steinlagers and ate some amazing food and watched a dance/presentation by a New Zealand tribe with the real costumes and everything. So much fun.
  • At 9 o’clock we were home and exhausted and fell asleep. Until 12:30. When we woke up and were full of energy. So we moseyed over to the living room to watch some DVR action. Including a movie that was playing on Sundance about a Canadian man trying to build a bear-proof suit so he could fight a bear. I am not kidding. And it was so badly done. And he was a pretty awful man. And all in all it was hilarious.
  • Finally we made it back to bed and complained that we were touching each other because it was so hot. And now I’m doing this while he’s at work.

FUN TIMES! Don’t you wish you were here?!?

I agree. i don’t understand the fascination with them, but I nod my head and smile and zone out when boyfriend starts talking about them.
